How to Pay Work Permit Fees in Türkiye After Approval
Once a work permit application in Türkiye is found eligible, an official payment notification is sent by email. This email contains the payment amounts and the Transaction Reference ID required to complete the process.
Please note that receiving this notification does not mean that the work permit document has already been issued. The work permit fee and valuable paper fee must first be paid within the specified period.
The required payments must be completed within 30 days from the notification date. If the fees are not paid within this period, the work permit application will be rejected.
There are two ways to pay the fees.
1. Online Payment Through the Digital Tax Office
The fees can be paid online by credit card through the Turkish Digital Tax Office:
On the homepage, select “Payment with Reference Number” (Referans Numarası ile Ödeme).
You will then need to:
· Select “Directorate General of International Labour Force” (Uluslararası İşgücü Genel Müdürlüğü) as the institution.
· Enter the foreigner’s Turkish Foreigner Identification Number starting with 9.
· Enter the Transaction Reference ID provided in the notification email.
· Pay the displayed fees by credit card.
The amounts shown in the system must be paid exactly. Paying an amount that is lower or higher than the required amount may prevent the procedure from being completed.
2. Payment Through Authorized Banks
The fees may also be paid through one of the following authorized banks in Türkiye:
· Ziraat Bankası
· Halkbank
· VakıfBank
The two fees must be paid separately:
· The work permit fee must be paid under payment code 9130.
· The valuable paper fee must be paid under payment code 9267.
The foreigner’s Turkish Foreigner Identification Number starting with 9 must be declared during the payment. Each amount must be paid separately and in full.
No additional bank transfer fee should be charged for these payments. Since the payments can be viewed electronically by the Ministry, it is generally not necessary to submit the bank receipts separately. Nevertheless, retaining copies of the receipts is recommended.
What Happens After Payment?
After the required fees are paid and the payment is confirmed in the system, the work permit document is issued. The document is generally delivered by PTT to the workplace address declared in the application.
Do Not Miss the Work Permit Extension Period
We recommend recording the work permit expiry date in your calendar as soon as the permit is issued. A work permit extension application must be filed within the legally permitted application period. Missing the extension deadline may require a new work permit application and may affect the foreign employee’s right to continue working legally in Türkiye.
